During the work week we watch our three year old nephew.This one evening he was being pick-up by his grandmother, who after loaded every thing into her car went to start the car up only to find she had a dead battery. My husband said no problem I will give you a jump-start from our car battery. Easy Right? (Murphy's Law) After much searching and many superlatives he finally came out with a pair of jumper cables and proceeded to hook both batteries up only to find out our car wouldn't start-up either.What's the odds? Well Thank the Lord our next door neighbor is a Police Officer and I asked for his assistance. He handed me a Black & Decker 300 amp Jump Starter which started both car batteries with power to spare. For my husband it was love at first jump. We order one that same night.Received it two days later, charged it over night and it was good to go. No more hunting for battery cables as they are attached to this small compact Jump-Starter,which by the way fits into the tire well,we now know where it is at all times and it holds a charge for months.Best part is even I can work this Jump-Starter there is no way you can hook the cables up wrong.I do not have to wait around for help.

When it worked, it worked well. It started up my 1999 Jetta just fine when needed on several occasions in hot and cold weather. After the winter following the two year expiration the battery would no longer charge and is now useless. ~$40 for two years of good service isn't too bad though.

Unit arrived almost full charge. Otherwise charges quickly. Did not
yet have a need to start my car. Sems well built. Clamps are metal,
not plastic, so they should hold well.

At first, I only kept it at the house but then, over time, I learened that if your car is giving you even the slightest symptom of not starting then just bring it with you. IT is important to keep it charged however because if it gets frozen when it is dead then it can damage the unit. Admittedly it does strain a bit to get the engine turning over, but it does what it's meant to do, so what more can I say. Also, the fact it can be charged from the car accessory (cigarette lighter) outlet as well as the mains supply means once the engine is running this can be staright back on charge in the car. I always carry this as a back up now. Great little jump starter at a great cost. I was shocked at the small size of this unit when it arrived and a little skeptical, but it has successfully jump started my 3.3L V6 engine from dead now twice, once in freezing conditions.
